Working With Items
(Image: Basic Tools)
The term ‘Items’ simply refers to your data: email messages, calendar events, contacts, files, bookmarks, and lists. We refer to them generically as items because for the most part, working with items is the same across all the applications in the suite.
The main panel of any application includes a number of controls across the top (in list view). This section focuses on those controls that are common to all applications; application-specific controls are discussed below in the section on Applications.
Note: The one application that functions differently than the others is Connect; it provides customized views of your items from all the other applications.
You can move, copy, and delete multiple items at once from list view. You can also move, copy, or delete an individual item from the item view.
Example
You are planning a birthday party for your friend Jill. You email her to confirm the date, time, and place of the party. You then enter the event in your calendar, and move this item into your Upcoming Events calendar.
How to: Manage Items
Creating a New Item
- Open the desired application by clicking its icon on the application bar
- Click the New button on the toolbar
- Fill out the 'Create New Item' Form (if applicable, you can take this opportunity to set access privileges, tag, or even notify a member of your team about the item you are creating, using the sidebar palettes.)
- Click the Create button at the bottom of form

Move allows you to move the selected item(s) from one group to another.
- Go to the item you want to move, or select multiple items by using the check boxes in the first column of any list view.
- Click Move on the toolbar
- Select the group to which you want the item moved to
- Click Move

Copying Items
Copy allows you to create a duplicate of the selected item(s), and specify a group to put it in. Copy works just like Move.
- Go to the item you want to copy, or select multiple items by using the check boxes in the first column of any list view.
- Click Copy on the toolbar to open a drawer that shows all your groups (for the application you are in)
- Select the group to which you want the item copied
- Click Copy at the bottom of the form
Deleting Items
Delete (toolbar item), works as advertised.
- Go to the item you want to delete, or select multiple items by using the check boxes in the first column of any list view.
- Click Delete on the toolbar
- Connector prompts you to confirm that you really want to delete the item(s)
Note: You can copy other users’ items, but you cannot move or delete them.
