Setting up Joyent Connector Mail in VersaMail on the Treo Handheld

  1. Fire up your Treo. Go to Account Setup → New…
  2. Name it whatever you'd like, and select “Other” from the “Mail Service” list, then select “IMAP” from “Protocol”. Hit Next.
  3. Enter your username, in the format of “YOURNAME@YOURTLD.joyent.net”, and then enter your password (it'll be shown as plain text when you first edit it, beware of shoulder surfers). Hit “Next”.
  4. Enter your email address as you'd like it to show up on emails (note, you can't have more than one outgoing address in Versamail). Then, enter “imap.joyent.net” for “Incoming Mail Server” and “smtp.joyent.net” for “Outgoing Mail Server”. Hit “Next”
  5. Hit “Advanced”. Check “Use Secure Connection (SSL)” and enter “993” for the Port Number. Hit “Next”
  6. Check both “Use Secure Connection (SSL)” and “Use Authentication (ESMTP)”. Type your username and password exactly like you did in step 3.
  7. You're done! You may want to set “Timeout” (in Options→Preferences→Connection) to a higher number, like 70 seconds, but that's probably more a factor of the connection in your area.

With this setup, you should be all set to send and receive your Joyent mail on your phone!
