Standard Groups

Groups, which appear in the sidebar, serve in the same way as a folder does on any operating system. You can use them to group items together. This concept is the same across all application in the Connector. Groups are generally represented by a folder icon.

However, in some applications, groups are represented by unique icons that fits more closely with the metaphor of that application. For example in Mail the mailbox is used to represent a group, and in Calendar a group is a calendar.

How To: Manage Groups

Creating a New Standard Group

  • From any application, click the New icon in the Groups sidebar. Select the type of group you want to create (standard or smart). Enter a name for the group, and click Save.

Note: In the Groups tab, you click ‘New’ to create a new standard or smart group; in the Main panel, clicking ‘New’ will create a new item (email, event, contact, file, bookmark, list).

Editing Group Properties

  • Controls for a number of group-related features are tucked away inside an “Info-Panel”.
  • To open the Info-Panel, select the group, and click the right-facing arrow that appears next to the group’s name (the arrow is only visible when the group is selected). This opens a panel from which you can adjust properties of that group.
  • The Info-Panel includes controls for renaming the group, moving it within the group hierarchy, and deleting the group.
  • Some groups’ Info-Panels also includes more advanced controls, for restricting access, allowing users to subscribe to its contents, and making it visible in the Connect Workspace.
