Cloud Deployment Engineer — Front End UI/UX

San Francisco, CA, US

Wanting to work in an Edge Native environment? We are a remote-first team looking for an experienced front-end web developer to work on our Single Page Application (SPA) client for Conch, our Datacenter Build and Management tool. Candidates will work as part of a team focused on end-to-end automation of datacenter expansion for the Joyent Triton Cloud and other deployments. Our various clouds span multiple data centers including internationally, and houses some of the highest profile customers in the world.


  • Maintain and develop Conch-UI our SPA Rest-Client for Conch
  • Communicate with (potentially remote) stake holders to identify requirements and future development
  • Work with the API team to develop a sensible REST architecture


  • Expert level front-end Javascript developer
  • Experience designing moderately sized web applications
  • Strong opinions about front-end architecture and Hypermedia APIs
  • A tortured understanding of How Computers Actually Work (and Fail To)
  • Ability to work with a remote-first team, and travel quarterly for planning meetings

Desired Skills

  • Experience with MithrilJS, and Meiosis, SAM, or the Flux patterns for state management
  • Experience with Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM)
  • Open source community involvement
  • Offline-First, CSS Grid, Hypermedia, Microservices, and other semi-modern web-dev buzzwords.


  • BS/MS in Computer Science or equivalent engineering experience.
  • Strong familiarity with security as it applies to web development
  • Detail orientation on technology, technical-development, quality, operations and system performance.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbally and in writing
  • A sense of humor and humility an absolute MUST
